Raising Funds for The Eve Appeal
At Saks Hair & Beauty in Kings Hill, we just love doing our bit for our charity of choice The Eve Appeal. With the help of amazing customers, friends and families, it’s our big aim to show how much we care by raising funds for gynaecological research.
The Eve Appeal’s cause resonates with all women, young and old. That’s mothers, daughters, sisters – all your girls. Less well publicised than breast cancer, gynaecological cancers kill 21 women a day in the UK and, along with The Eve Appeal, we’re determined to help change this.
So our team regularly hold events to raise funds, and this time we gathered our nearest and dearest at our local pub for a quiz night.
WE SMASHED OUR TARGET
Our aim? To have a whole load of fun, get our besties together, and naturally – to beat last year’s total raised of £904. Now our hair and beauty team are a competitive bunch, so it was all systems go with prepping, planning and organising.
First up, gathering as many raffle prizes as possible and start selling tickets asap. As a salon we donated a Saks Sensory Heaven treatment worth £130 (if you want to find out more – just take a look at our beauty menu). We also had some fantastic prizes contributed by our much-loved suppliers and local businesses.
Big shout out to L’Oréal, Skeyndor, David Lloyd Clubs, Family Dog Services, Glowing Fitness, Mardyke Valley Golf Club and Saksessories for your kindness!
We hired a function room at our lovely local pub – The Spitfire where 50 guests joined us for our fund raiser, spread across nine teams. On the night we had a tone of fun selling raffle tickets and running the quiz. Our quiz master this year was Dan (our salon director Natasha’s husband). He rose to the task setting some tough questions – we even had a 10-point deduction rule if caught cheating! It was extremely competitive and the winning team took the lead by five points, scooping themselves three bottles of Prosecco to celebrate.
Salon manager Nik says “This event was a fantastic success. We were so lucky to have such amazing prizes donated for the raffle. Huge thank you for all of the support! It was a brilliant quiz with a great atmosphere. I feel so proud of our team. The way they work together to achieve our goals is just amazing. I’m super proud to say we raised a total of £1,226!”

And we couldn’t be happier with our efforts, raising nearly £10k for our chosen charity. A huge thank you goes to all of our customers, as without your donations, this just wouldn’t be possible.
