What’s Your Hair Regimen?

Reading Time: 5 minutes

We’re all for hair regimens and the skinification of hair. What’s this new thing, you say? Just as our beauty therapists define routines to nurture your face – consulting, considering, and prescribing – our stylists think likewise for your hair and scalp.

With high-tech hair treatments and ingredients at our fingertips we’re able to nourish your hair as your needs change seasonally, and at different times of your life.

THE ART OF CONSULTATION WITH SCL

We take your consultation seriously. Saks Artist and colour guru Sarah Clarke-Lees knows all there is about maxing hair health and says: “Your stylist will recommend the best timing for your next visit to keep hair in shape and will recommend a home care and conditioning plan too.

“There are big benefits to treating your hair – and yourself – to in-salon services. You’ll feel immediate benefits and experience nourishing effects afterwards. And with a relaxing head massage and professional finish you’ll step out feeling better! Nowadays, ingredients are like vitamin shots for your hair and should be maintained like any supplement. Home care regimens are proven to help prevent colour fade, and improve condition. We can’t make your hair grow quicker but looking after the ends can minimise breakage and promote healthy growth.”

NEXT-GEN SCIENCE

Back in the day haircare worked on the surface of hair but now next-gen science means your stylist identifies causes and prescribes treatments and products with super-active ingredients to nourish at a deeper level. We focus equally on the scalp to exfoliate away dead skin cells and restore pH levels too. Healthy scalp. Healthy hair. Fact.

WE LOVE FUSIO DOSE

All the love for Fusio-Dose as Kerastase celebrates 10 years of this prescriptive in-salon nourishing system in 36 shiny, gloss-giving combinations! Fusio Dose channels active ingredients to target primary and secondary concerns with instant results. Your stylist will recommend a custom treatment formula, with a base Concentrate for your primary concern and a targeted Booster for your secondary hair concern. Two for one here.

Brilliant for any hair type, utilising active ingredients that are high-profile in skincare:

Antioxidants to defend against hair damage
Hydrating hyaluronic acid
Fibre-strength giving amino acids
Glycerin for intense nourishment
Jojoba oil to boost shine
Ceramides which support the skin’s barrier function work just as well to protect the hair fibre and replenish it.

WORD FROM THE SALON FLOOR

Shannon Currah at Saks Hexham and member of Saks A-Team 2022* gives her take on regimens and all-things autumnal at Saks. “Antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and amino acids are all ingredients we covet in skincare. TRUTH IS they are all great for protecting your hair fibre, replenishing its surface and improving look and feel. Treating your hair with the same respect as your skin – we’ve always been here for that.”

SELF CARE SUNDAY?

For detoxification Shannon loves the Kerastase Fusio Scrub Energisant. “It’s for oil-prone scalp and hair. I use it weekly for a deep cleanse and exfoliation. It invigorates, clarifies the scalp and the shiny hair lasts.”

PIXIE CROP TO PULP FICTION BOB

On her current hair regimen Shannon says: “I’m growing out my crop – aiming for a chin-length Pulp Fiction bob. So, I have regular trims to keep the ends healthy and encourage growth. And I love changing my colour up. Currently playing with Peekaboo Pieces from our Signature Colours range – where we place panels of colour to shine through; lasting around 6-8 washes.”

“For my high maintenance colour I opt for Kerastase’s Chroma Absolu shampoo paired with their Resistance Ciment lightweight conditioner to strengthen any bleached areas. Just like skincare – you don’t need to stick to one brand or range.”

YOU HUE!

On seasonal colour trends Shannon says: “It’s all about warmth as the season turns! Some platinum and silver blondes often move towards golden hour brondes and caramels, for a rich ‘lived-in’ look. And we find our warm brunettes adding coppers and reds to the mix. At your consultation just chat to your stylist if you’re wanting to changeup your hair colour.

Sarah continues: “A great colour appointment – there’s no feeling like it. Follow your stylist’s advice on when to come back in and if top up toners are needed in between.Toners are great for removing unwanted warmth and refreshing colour that may have faded due to summer sun. They can also be an opportunity to play.

“For autumn I’m choosing Glisten & Glow from our new Signature Colours collection; perfect for brunettes who want to avoid density of colour – we add in fine, lighter pieces for added multi-faceted shine.”

SEASONAL SMOOTHING

Shannon says: “Our keratin smoothing treatment 72 Hair was a big heatwave hit for soothing frizzy manes! Perfect for the humidity and drizzle of autumn too.”
