Special Recognition at Saks Chester
If you know our Chester salon owner Nicola Hughes, you may know she’s a complete boss when it comes to winning awards. As well as being a brilliant hairdresser and salon owner, of course.
In the blink of an eye after being named Franchisee of the Year in the prestigious British Hairdressing Business Awards, Nicola went and bagged the same title again, this time in the Saks Awards 2021.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION
For the Saks Awards this time round there were a handful of new Special Recognition Awards… introduced to give kudos to those who’d gone above and beyond and not been deterred by those stop-start lockdowns.
The Year That Was may have put a hold on Nicola being able to do what she loves best – giving our Chester hair salon customers a brilliant experience – but she got to thinking how she could contribute to a tricky conversation. And very soon she was chatting on BBC News, co-hosting on Radio Five Live Wake Up To Money and being interviewed on BBC Radio Merseyside about how salons were navigating lockdowns and working around the pandemic – with great advice for others in the same situation. Kinda, hairdressers supporting hairdressers – just how we like it.

Yup, winning a Saks Award’s a biggy. There’s *plenty* of super-strong competition from other owners – aka Nicola’s mates – in our salons across the UK. But Nicola loves healthy competition… may the best salon owner win and all that.
And ours did! Very proud. Again.
