Saks South Shields Celebrate big 30
It all began back in good old 1990. A whopping 30 years ago, our Saks hair salon in South Shields opened its doors, and has been going strong ever since. Our customers love the Saks brand, and they’re what keep us going strong for so long.
We’re absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 30 years in the hair industry, so we couldn’t resist sharing our story of how we got here to mark this special occasion.
LET’S START AT THE BEGINNING
Our salon owner, Lynn Harvey, first joined Saks as a stylist way back in the 80s (1981 to be precise) at the group’s very first salon, in Darlington. Lynn worked alongside the company’s original founding chairman, Dennis Cheeseborough, as well as Saks’ longstanding MD, Stephen Kee. Six years on, in 1987, Lynn moved on to work for Saks in Sunderland, where she stayed for three years.
From there, Lynn decided to take the leap and open her own salon in South Shields in 1990. So she found the perfect spot on King Street, where the salon shone for 17 years, before relocating to Fowler Street, where it’s remained for the last 13 years. And to this day is still going strong.
LYNN SAYS
“I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Saks brand, and I love that I’ve been with the company from the beginning. Not only have I had the pleasure of owning my own salon for most of my hairdressing career, but I’ve also worked as part of the renowned Saks Art Team for 20 years, representing Saks across the country.” says Lynn.
“I love being part of the Saks family and having the support of HQ, as well as the other Saks salons across the country.”
She continues “To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re thrilled to offer our loyal customers a free treatment with their appointment. And all new customers will receive a half price haircut”.

Lynn and her oh-so-talented team plan to continue doing what they do best – making each of their customers fee fabulous, of course.
