Raising £10,700 for The Eve Appeal

Reading Time: 3 minutes

What a way to kickstart our 2024 fundraising efforts for our charity of choice, The Eve Appeal. Salon owners Andrea and Shannon, along with their hairdressing team at Saks in Hexham are absolutely thrilled to have raised an impressive £10,700 *and still counting* at the seriously swish Slaley Hall in February.

With the help and support of partners, family and friends – Andrea, Shannon, Emma, Jessica, Jess, Hannah, Jodie, Isla and Chloe pulled off a pretty impressive night… with legendary 12-piece band – HUGE (lead by Ian Donaghy), games, dancing, uber-deluxe raffle, amazing auction, name the womb, Andrea belting out the tunes, love and of course, laughter into the early hours. We couldn’t have had a better time – all in aid of the best cause.

The Eve Appeal is the leading UK national charity funding research and raising awareness into the five gynaecological cancers. The world-leading research that they fund is ambitious and challenging but their vision is simple: A future where gynaecological cancers are a disease of the past.

This all means the world to Andrea and Shannon as they lost their mam and grandma to cervical cancer.

Shannon says “Guests were overwhelmingly generous – we raised £10,700 on the night with some *big* donations still coming in!”

Johnathan Burr and Johnathan Strutt’s epic bid to sing with the band on the condition that lifelong hairdresser, Andrea sang too. Raising a whopping £500!

Thank you both so so much. You are THE BEST.

Andrea says “Our event was everything we’d hoped for and more! Everyone went all out with their red outfits, dancing and party games. Our target was to raise £6,000 so we’re absolutely blown away by the current total. And people are still donating now – we can’t believe it”.

Family member as guest of the event, Kathryn Currah, said “My husband and I attended the Saks event at Slaley Hall and were overwhelmed by the organisation, atmosphere and generosity shown by the guests.

“The night was emotional yet high spirited and the raffle and auction brought not only excellent prizes but demonstrated the compassion and kindness of those that organised and attended the event. We hope Saks in Hexham were pleased with the overall amount raised”.

Thank you to our amazing salon team, friends and family for all your help on the night. And of course – a big thanks to all our customers and friends for supporting such a great cause.

Love to you all, Saks Hexham x
