If an award was ever deserved, it’s definitely this one. What can we say other than a massive congratulations to *THE BEST* Chester hair salon owner we know – our fabulous Nikki, for being inducted into HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame as she’s awarded Franchisee of the Year an impressive three times (in a row!).

We know our customers love to share in our success, so a big thank you for all your comments and support for Nikki and our team as we enter awards, whether we win or lose – we always appreciate you.

It’s the highest accolade in hairdressing since the event began in 1985 – impressive! And achieving a place is no mean feat. To be inducted into the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame, winners must be awarded for the same category three times. Then once they’ve achieved a place, they can no longer enter this category again. But that’s fine with us, as this is the absolute icing on the cake!

Sian Jones, Deputy Editor of HJ says “A huge congratulations to Nicola Hughes, Saks Chester who has entered the British Hairdressing Business Awards Hall of Fame for her wins in Franchisee of the Year 2020, 2021, 2022.”

Let’s find out exactly what it means to Nikki to receive this accolade…

So you’re in the prestigious Hall of Fame? Congratulations! How does it feel?

“It’s amazing, I still feel like I need to pinch myself.”

You’ve put in a lot of work to achieve your awards, tell us a bit more about that?

“I’ve spent a lot of time working out how to support my team so they can better themselves, as I believe the key to success is creating a positive work space for the right people. And I’m always thinking about what the next step is…”

You’re no stranger to an award of two, so what’s next for you?

“I want a BHBA (British Hairdressing Business Award) that represents not just my success, but the hard work and success of my whole team.”

Lastly, tell us what’s going on in your salon for everyone wanting to grab an appointment?

“Loads! We’re currently planning a salon refit for the start of November, then when we reopen we’re holding a charity evening in aid of The Eve Appeal on Wednesday 8th November.

Claire, our salon director, is a finalist in the Salon Awards as Colourist of The Year 2023, which is also in November plus we’re planning for a photoshoot for next year’s competitions.

We’ve just starting to train our new hair apprentices and our stylists’ training plans for are in full swing.

… That’s just a glimpse at what goes on behind our scenes, but lots of exciting things.”
