Hold onto your hairpins, because our very own stylists, Emma and Lucy from Saks Hair Newark just won the 2024 L’Oréal Colour Trophy for the Northwest Region. This is the second year running we’ve won this prestigious award. So proud!
We caught up with them both for the backstage gossip…
You’re the Northwestern regional winners of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy! How did it feel to win Lucy?
“Amazing! I’ve never entered a competition before, so it felt extra special to win.”
Where did you get the inspiration for the look?
“We got the inspiration originally from the milk tea trend online. We wanted to create something that was both soft and glamorous.”
Definitely soft and glamorous!
If you had to pick a favourite moment from the process, what would it be?
“I enjoyed it all, but the adrenaline on the day was amazing. We woke up really early and ended up doing some of the hair preparation and makeup in the middle of London. It was a really fun experience working together and having to get creative.”
Talent in the spotlight (or should we say sunlight)
Tell us all about the awards ceremony – we bet you had a blast!?
“The creativity of the ceremony was amazing! There was a metal detox bar with cocktails and live sculptures created by incredible designers. The shows highlighted so much talent, and it was fun to see modern hair and fashion on stage.”
Your hair models looked gorgeous. How do you choose who you’d like to work with?
“We knew what colour and style we wanted before we picked our model. Zoe had worked with our model before and knew she would be perfect for the look we wanted to bring to life. We also get on really well, which is so important and makes the experience that much more fun.”
How do your fellow stylists and customers feel about your win? We bet you couldn’t wait to tell everyone…
“We posted on our Instagram straight away – we were so excited! When our customers came into the salon, we loved showing them our beautiful new trophy.”
