CHESTER SALON ROCKS LCT23

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final 2023 was fantastic – yet again. Our Saks Chester hair salon owner Nikki Hughes made it through as a grand finalist and Saks’ creative director Luke Pluckrose showcased the endless possibilities of hairdressing in his headline show – Limitless.

We caught up with Nikki for the lowdown and all the backstage gossip (naturally)…

So, you’re a L’Oréal colour Trophy finalist, congratulations! How do you feel about that?

It was fantastic to make it through as a finalist again. I love taking part in the LCT because it helps our hair salon team to really focus on current trends and push ourselves creatively.

Behind the scenes

We loved your look. Talk us through it, what was your inspiration?

My look is based on the 90’s with an up-to-date twist. I love creating mens looks because the cut is generally short, and it allows me to showcase my technical ability. The whole feel was a relaxed, undressed look, which I think reflects current trends, leaning towards individuality and creating a bespoke look.

That colour though!

Ah thanks! Colour wise, I wanted to create an apricot tone which falls in line with the pantone colour of the year for 2024. I can’t wait to see this palette emerge in different ways next year.

And what did you think about Luke’s ‘Limitless’ show?

I loved the looks, they were brilliant. Luke and the Saks Artists are so creative – we’re always inspired by what they come up with.

The technical process and blending with the artistic finish for each look and style was stunning. It was (another) great day and night by Saks!
