BTS at Good For You Shoot

Reading Time: 5 minutes

When true creatives are in the room, working together, only fab-u-lous things happen. And we got a 100% “yes, I’m in” when we called on a bunch of our fave collaborators for our latest Saks brand campaign shoot. Hair, beauty photography, styling, and content creation pros who’ve worked with us over the years coming together to create the magic of Saks!

ON LOCATION

On a sultry October day, we all headed to The Cotton Store in the Harringay Warehouse District, north London. Months of meticulous research in the making, our mood boards showcased the vibe of hair and beauty and that feeling of joy. ‘That thing’ that women want from their salon appointments today. Because it’s kinda pointless if you don’t step out with a smile on your face and pep in your step, right?

THE SPIRIT OF SAKS

Our brand code – the Spirit of Saks – is what we live by. All the things that we have in our heads and what goes on BTS in every Saks salon so we can max your time when you’re in and and make sure you feel fabulous when you step out. The brief was to visually capture the essence of  (sings) ‘that thing, that thing’…

… A salon visit can make a difference to your day. At Saks we celebrate who you are and how you take time at ours to do what works for you. Maybe to change things up or for more of what you love already. Whatever brings you to Saks, we’ll welcome you in, get to know where you’re at and serve up brilliant hair and beauty that’s 100% good for you…

Vibe. Of. Us.

BIT OF A DO

Our creative director, Luke Pluckrose’s credentials are stellar. And his schedule’s pretty tricky to manage, given he’s called on to jet out to provide wow-factor hair for A-Listers around the world. From Kim, Kendall and Kris to Charlotte Tilbury, Eva Longoria, Priyanka Chopra and every lucky head of hair in between at big gigs, shoots and avant garde shows too. Immerse yourself in his Instagram for inspo. You may be a while.

We asked Luke to create some of his absolute fave styles that we all know, love and want to make our own. Luke says: “This campaign had to be special because it’s our big 5-0 and I loved creating some of my favourite looks with Clare and Sarah. From working a versatile shag to wet look curls, amplifying natural texture, a 70s blowout, updos… got to play really!”

ON BEAUTY

Our therapist Ruta from Saks Kings Hill was on set for Saks Beauty. Ruta: “It was a very chilled and creative vibe. A positive space to be in in! My first time on a Saks set and I enjoyed every minute. I loved being around such inspiring people. The whole experience gave me creative ideas to work in the salon. I was very pleased to be given such an opportunity and so proud that I got to represent Saks Beauty.”

One of our models Rebecca says: “The energy was amazing. Everyone was really friendly and excited to get together and make the images. Cat is a brilliant photographer – always makes me feel safe to move, be free and explore different shapes and attitudes with her encouragement and magic lighting!”

PERFECT PIECES

Stylist and longtime collaborator Karl Willett’s known for his elegantly classic, yet contemporary style and vision, and has worked with celebrities from music, film and TV including Kylie, Paloma Faith, Amanda Holden, Michelle Visage and Alex Scott. As usual Karl nailed it for Saks with a rail of divine outfits in chiffons, silk, velvet and metallics in a future facing palette of navy, sherbet lilac, off whites and cream. Y.U.M.

WELL WELL WELL

Janet King, head of marketing at Saks, adds: “Our mission is to spread the Saks love far and wide to help inspire newbies to try us and remind our OGs why they fell in love with us in the first place. And our brand campaign – always a joy to work on btw – helps us do exactly that.

This time around we’re celebrating what a salon visit is all about, and it’s so much more than a makeover, it’s a real a mood lifter too. Whatever our customers come in for – hair services or face, body and glam treatments – we want you to walk out with a smile on your face, pep in your step and that happy-fuzzy feeling that can come from investing in your wellbeing.”

OUR BIG FIVE OHHHH

And this shoot had an added buzz as we’re celebrating 50 years of Saks in 2024… more in a bit.
