If you know our Hexham Saks salon, you know our hair team is no stranger to winning an award or two. But even if we do have an impressive trophy collection, we’ll always strive to achieve more. Because our Saks stylists love to demonstrate their talent for hair, combined with fashion (and a whole load of fun whilst we do it).
So when we heard we’re a finalist for not one but FOUR awards, you can imagine our excitement. A well-deserved shout out goes to our nominees:
• Shannon – nominated for Manager of the Year at British Hairdressing Business Awards 2023
• Emma – nominated for Global Stylist at Salon Business Awards 2023
• The Whole Team – nominated for the Fashion Award at Salon Business Awards 2023
• The Whole Team – nominated for the Creative Salon also at Salon Business Awards 2023
SHANNON ON BEING NOMINATED FOR BHBA MANAGER OF THE YEAR
As Shannon headed to her interview for the next stage of the British Hairdressing Business Awards competition, she says “I’m over the moon to be selected as a finalist for Manager of the Year. I worked for ages to enter a few categories and didn’t expect to get through to the finals in this one, so I’m delighted. I’ve done lots of prep for this interview, so fingers crossed it goes well!”
“I’m super excited to attend the black-tie awards ceremony in July with salon owner, Andrea and Jess (who’s my dream team assistant manager) who will be coming to support me”.
EMMA ON BEING NOMINATED FOR SALON BUSINESS AWARDS GLOBAL STYLIST
Emma, our salon director and L’Oréal Colour Specialist is thrilled to be picked for Global Stylist. She entered a look she created recently and described what inspired her to create the image as well as the process she went through to achieve the final look.

Emma says “I wanted to enter this award to stand out from the crowd, express myself and demonstrate that I could win Global Stylist. I have a wealth of experience in all aspects of hair and loads of qualifications, so this is my next step”.
“The creative brief was based on iconic music, so this is my take on Lady Gaga. I plaited wefts of hair to create feathers for the skirt, spray painted yellow hair pieces and added the head piece.”
“I feel awesome to be a finalist because I just love what I do. I can’t contain my excitement!”
Shannon went on to say “Having just qualified as a L’Oréal colour specialist and being a recent member of Saks A-Team creative training programme, she’s been a solid member of our team for the last 17 years. Emma works very hard and really deserves the recognition”.
“She’s flying high this year and loving it”!
ANDREA ON THE TEAM’S NOMINATION FOR SALON BUSINESS’ FASHION AWARD
Andrea says “I’m so proud of our team for getting through to Salon Business’ Fashion Award. We used a perfectly fitting image Shannon created recently, and described how the image best represents our salon’s identity and brand”.

SHANNON ON THE SALON’S NOMINATION FOR SALON BUSINESS’ CREATIVE SALON AWARD
“To enter this award, we answered a series of questions about the creative work we do as a salon and how we stay relevant in hair”.
“We provided an example our salon’s creative style, demonstrating how it reflects our brand. For this category, we used Emma’s image above, as we love the look and think it really shows creativity as it’s not just about hair. The movement of the hair skirt created really makes for a perfect picture in our opinion.” Says Shannon.
We’ll be ready to celebrate at both awards bashes on 5th June and 3rd July, both in London.
