And Breathe… we’ve got you

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Put me-time on your ‘things to do’. Now and every day. Yoga check-ins to adrenalin-fuelled HIT half hours, a binge-watch (Sex Education anyone?) or nurturing your face; all help channel your best vibes through to bedtime.

Lots of you tell us that you come in to relax and reset. From a hair makeover to skin rejuvenation; or a file and polish with your blowdry  – what we do can make a big difference to your day. Saks Art Team and Beauty Squad chat here on ways to centre yourself with Saks.

Clare says: “Those wanting a new style tend to do it this time of year. Even something subtle – maybe moving a parting or the length and shape of your fringe, and even a new way to use your irons or tongs. Have a chat with your Saks stylist if you’re wanting to shake it up a bit – or a lot! Tell us what you like and even a small change can reboot your style.”

Sarah says: “So many hair colour options – we’re like kids in a *L’Oréal* candy shop! I’m loving the emergence of translucent, cool colours for ultra-natural hues and I choose their new Majarel Glow colour portfolio for a subtle lift – this palette is my go-to for brunettes and blondes.”

Sarah continues: “If you’re not a colour customer but still covert gloss, choose L’Oréal Ring Light Pure Spray finishing spray to help banish flyaways and give a high-shine finish. A brilliant addition to your styling routine – apply like a halo over your hair.”

Luke says: “Being at the backwash can get overlooked when talking about your salon experience. It’s a big focus for us as we want you to enjoy every minute when you’re in. The head massage is a great way to kick-back. We understand what you want to achieve and decided on your nourishing treatment and we take our time with this bit. We even run a course for our stylists!”

Katie on beauty: “OK so this time of year your skin is probably at its worst after winter. It may be dry, dull or congested. We need to brighten it up for spring. And for this we choose facials and products with enzymes which work wonders removing dead skin cells, revealing smoother skin. We have choices. For facials think the Blueberry Smoothie by CosMedix and Papaya Enzyme Peel from Elemis. And my personal fave product is Skeyndor’s My Mask Fruit Jam.

“PLEASE also use a broad-spectrum SPF every day – sunny or not – to protect your skin. Look to foods rich in antioxidants and beta carotene such as bell peppers and oranges to boost your skin from within.”

The CosMedix Blueberry Smoothie peel. An antioxidant resurfacing peel that’s a natural alternative to micro-dermabrasion. It helps to resurface the skin by using chirally correct L-Lactic Acid and fruit enzymes to soften the skin. Jojoba beads help to gently buff away debris and surface cells. All while infusing the skin with antioxidants from real blueberries.

The  Decléor  Green Mandarine Smooth & Glow facial. Enriched with vitamins and anti-oxidants to energise the skin. Unique massage movements help to release tension and bamboo movements help to smooth out the appearance of lines and wrinkles. A vitamin mask softly cocoons skin, providing the perfect environment for it to flourish. Skin is left deeply cleansed and replenished.

Our expert says: “When asked to do our top recommends we tend to mention Sensory Heaven every time. It’s our number one luxuriant treat – consultation, facial and full body massage combo with diagnostic reflexology and body brushing included. Don’t be in a rush. And keep going with the flow afterwards as you’ll float out on air.”

“A quick fix file & polish is a perfect treatment for spring. Cuticles are nipped and tucked, nails are filed, shaped and painted to perfection all under 20 minutes. After more of a treat for your hands and feet? Our manicures include exfoliation and a luxurious hand and arm massage with all of the included benefits of a file & polish.

“Getting our feet out can be daunting but not after one of our pedicures” says Katie. “Hard skin removal,  foot soak, massage, cuticle work, gorgeous paint job! What’s not to love? Upgrade to a spa pedi for a foot mask and heated booties!”

And our final tip: “And don’t overlook your nail-health. We all love gels but we a) must get them removed professionally – do not try to pick them off; you’ll wreck your nails! We love Jessica’s Phenomen Oil to heal and hydrate cuticles. Smells like an almond slice – yum!”
