£250k Raised for Gynae Cancers
Since 2015, those who work at and walk into a Saks salon have been part of something special. We call it Saks4Eve, and it means a lot to us. Because providing gorgeous hair and beauty was never the whole story at Saks.
OUR CHARITY PARTNER
The Eve Appeal is the leading gynaecological cancer charity, which aims to prevent gynae cancers from developing in the first place, but if they do develop, they want to make sure they’re detected early so more people survive their diagnosis.
Know your normal
It’s a bigger job than it should be. Gynae cancers still receive just 5% of all cancer research funding in the UK, despite around 22,050 new cases being diagnosed here every year. To date, The Eve Appeal has invested over £10 million into research on screening, early diagnosis and risk prediction – funding that’s already helped improve patient outcomes, changed clinical management, policies and guidelines.

We’ve now raised £250,000 (£252,623.52 at time of blog go-live). We’ve zip-wired, cycled, skydived, baked, flashed fancy pants, run, pouted, raffled and trekked thousands of Ks between us, with clients getting involved every step of the way.

LONDON MARATHON FOR ANNA
Salon owner Anna at Saks Sedbury Hall has been a Saks4Eve champion since day one. Turning 50 in 2026 was the perfect bucket list tie-in… running her first (London) Marathon, raising £3,932 (and two half marathons) in the year before a very special birthday. Bringing their total raised to £30,506.53.

Anna says: “I always wanted to do a marathon, so I set myself the challenge of getting fit enough to do it – plus two half marathons – before turning 50 this October! The Eve Appeal is close to my heart. Two people in my life are fighting gynae cancers, and they’re the perfect fit for Saks: we’re in the business of making women feel good, and that’s exactly what The Eve Appeal is fighting for.”
THREE MILLION STEPS AT NEWARK
Our Newark Hair team did the maths and clocked up three million of them between them, as well as giving cut-and-blow-dries for donations and a raffle of hair goodies, bringing in £1,169 this time. Bringing their total raised to £5,949.71.
SCARBOROUGH TO WHITBY, THE LONG WAY ROUND
Two salons and HQ on this 50k trek. Not their first as a Saks4Eve crew. Kudos to Alice and Sarah from Saks Guisborough, Alex, Emily and Erin from Saks Northallerton and Janet and Jo from Saks HQ, with over £3,000 raised collectively. Bringing Guisborough’s total to £12,366.60 and Northallerton’s to £10,894.53.

KINGS HILL 10K AND CAKE
Kings Hill combined another of their legendary cake sales with a raffle and a team 10k walk to add another £1,766 on top of an already strong track record. Bringing their total raised to £12,301.51.
EDINBURGH HALF AND KIDS PLAITING CLASSES
Colette at Saks Aberdeen ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon, raising £550, and the Aberdeen team raised £200 running more plaiting classes for kids. A fab way of getting health conversations started earlier than most of us think to have them. Total raised by our two Aberdeen salons to date = £12,715.46.

ACTIVITIES IN SALONS
Bishop Auckland’s Easter hats-cakes-and-raffle brought in £434. Saks Knutsford’s Halloween raffle added £80. Saks Lincoln raised £150 through their in-salon Halloween activities, organised by stylist Kate. Not forgetting the ‘balance a coin to win a blow-dry’ comp over at Saks Leeds City.
Andrea Currah, co-owner at Saks Hexham, the salon that’s raised a whopping £30,851.72, says: “Gynae cancers are a taboo subject. Be aware of your body and speak up about changes. Stop it being detected when it’s too late. An awesome amount of money raised by us@Saks! My mam would have been massively thankful and proud.”

£250,000 is a brilliant number, but gynae cancers don’t pause. So, neither do we.
