Beat those breakouts
As we’re 40 this year, we’re dedicating 2014 to bringing better skin to the lovely ladies of Britain! The bad news is that conditions such as female adult acne are on the up, stemming from lifestyle influences as women juggle super-hectic careers with busy-busy family life. The good news is that there are lots of things you can do help calm such complaints, including simple changes to your daily routine.
OUR BEAUTY EXPERT KNOWS THE SCORE
Kirsty Jewson, Beauty Expert at Saks, says: “Saks research shows that most women want better skin… so 2014 is all about sharing tips for beating the most common skin complaints! Those who suffer with breakouts can become obsessed with the feeling of squeaky clean skin, but using the wrong products can aggravate the problem. Adopting a holistic approach by swapping to products with active ingredients, combined with dietary and lifestyle changes really can make a difference.”

OUR THREE TOP TIPS AT HOME
Cleanse thoroughly with a non-abrasive/astringent product
Avoid soap bars and cleansers with the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulphate which leaves the skin prone to bacterial invasion, inflamed, sore and dry – ouch!
Keep drinking the water
Hydrated skin has a strong barrier function to fight bacterial invasion, and it looks better too! For every 50lb of body weight drink a litre of water, eg 10 stone is 140lb so aim for three litres a day.
Up your intake of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids
These nutrients help keep skin inflammation and acne under control. Increase intake of oily fish such as mackerel, salmon and sardines or supplement with Omegas 3 and 6.
