Saks supports The Eve Appeal
After much anticipation and excitement we’re THRILLED to announce our exciting two-year partnership supporting The Eve Appeal; the national charity dedicated to raising funds for research into, and awareness of gynaecological cancers.
At the heart of everything we do at Saks is the desire to transform the way women look and feel every day… it’s what we do. Fighting women’s cancers is a cause that resonates with all women, young and old, and supporting The Eve Appeal is a perfect way to take our fabulous ethos to a whole new level… and prove that Saks truly is a special community of women.
Currently 55 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every day in the UK and there are not one or two but FIVE gynae cancers: Womb, Cervical, Ovarian, Vaginal and Vulval. These cancers are too-little known about and you may have learnt something simply by reading this. Unfortunately it’s all a bit ‘EEEK’ and we simply don’t talk about them enough.
Not so from now at Saks.
The Eve Appeal is the UK’s only national charity raising awareness and funding research in these cancers. It was set up in 2002 to save women’s lives by funding groundbreaking research focused on developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection and developing screening for these women-only cancers.
Over the next two years we have our eyes on raising a whopping £100,000 for this super-worthwhile cause with our salons competing with each other in a variety of fun fundraising events around the UK, participating in big sporting challenges and the ultimate endurance test… a big international group trek in 2016. We LOVE a bit of healthy competition at Saks!
There’s no better place for chatting than in-salon and ‘getting gynaecological’ is now firmly on the radar for our stylists and therapists as we’re on a HUGE mission to raise awareness and remove the taboo about these too little talked about cancers. Giving out information leaflets and encouraging you to pass on what may be life-saving knowledge to female friends and family.
