Party Blowouts and Special Styling
Bounce, sleek, wave, curl. Beautiful hair is on for party-season and we’re here for whatever you fancy. For our winter hair edit we asked our creative director Luke Pluckrose and Saks Artists Sarah Clarke-Lees and Jess Hesp to tell all on what’s trending at Saks to take you through to your new-year’s bed-hair duvet-day.
Jess – also of Saks Barnard Castle – says: “This season’s a big celebration of styling and colour. There’s a real cross-over in looks – it could be an easy sleek pony for a special event or a big blowout for afternoon drinks. And switching up your hair is a great way to refresh your looks as you go.”
Sarah says: “For curls that last, pin your hair or wrap it round Velcro rollers and let it cool and to keep it away from your face while you put your make-up on. Letting it cool down whilst pinned up’ll give a longer lasting curl. Pop on your hairspray a few minutes before you’re ready and carefully unpin just before you leave. Use a wide tooth comb for a separated curls finish or a soft bristle brush for a softer big curl look.
“Apply L’Oréal Tecni.Art Volume Lift at the root and down into the mid lengths and ends. This give a good hold and won’t weigh your hair down. Team it up with Tecni.Art Ring Light Shine Spray for your photo-finish look.”
Watch as Luke shares how to create iconic Hollywood Waves. Magical ingredients? A sprinkling of Tecni.Art Super Dust, a couple of clip-on wefts and twisting with your tong. Add a blast of Air Fix to secure your style from desk ’til dawn.

We love a winter wedding and we’re swoony over this one. When salon owner Zoe at Saks Newark tied the knot with Matt it was her best mate Luke that she called on to create cascading waves for days. Not a dry eye in the house, church or salon!
SPEAKING OF SPECIAL STYLING
Helluva year for our creative director. From jetting out to New York City with Charlotte Tilbury to dreamy Lake Como weddings and styling it out at parties for Burberry and Tiffany and more. Addison Rae, Chrissie Teigen, Lori Harvey, Mimi Webb, Nadine Leopold, Olivia Neill, Paris Jackson and Sabrina and Idris Elba *and our Zoe* all join Kim K in being styled by Luke.
Jess says: “As we are getting into colder temperatures everything can dry up including our hair! When you’re next in we can go through what in-salon treatments would be best for you, from smoothing and bonding treatments to intense conditioning we’ll check out your hair and recommend which best suits you.”

Jess: “For that coveted glass finish I choose Kérastase Elixir Ultime. Just one of the ways it can work wonders for your hair… apply to damp hair before blowdrying and then on dry hair to finish for super-gloss! Can be used as a pre-conditioning treatment , as a leave-in conditioner and to smooth flyaways – smells unreal as well!”

Sarah says: “Dull weather doesn’t mean dull hair! Toners are a great way to refresh you colour between appointments. And if you think of your hair as a creative canvas our Signature Colour Two-Tone could be for you. We’ll add lighter panels or work with existing panels; lightening and playing with high speed toners for an intense colour finish. From daring to dusky… there’s a bespoke hue for you.
“Get creative at your tips or around your face. Perfect if you’ve already got a colour with lighter pieces. Semi-permanent, fades out. Lasts around 6-8 washes and can be refreshed as often as you like. Fade out and go again!”
