Our salon owner Nikki wins-big
Just WOW! Brilliant news at our Chester salon as our owner Nikki has only gone and won a massive national award! In a virtual ceremony on 25 January our boss was named Franchisee of the Year in the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2020. This puts our salon in Chester right on the map as excellent for customer service, being business-savvy and for beautiful hair too of course!
ABOUT NIKKI
In Nikki’s other life her family is hubby Carl, daughters Cordelia and Penelope, the dog and two guineas. Nikki loves motorbikes and skiing. Interesting fact – when the fam moved to Barbados in 2015 Nikki actually ran our salon from there. For a year!
Nikki says: “I’m thrilled to win this, especially at this time – testament to hard work, big support from my family and Saks HQ and most of all my brilliant team!” Ah. That’ll. Be. US.
Over the years, we’ve won loads of Saks Awards and Nikki’s regularly made it through to big creative awards as finalist including Creative Head IT List and the L’Oréal Colour Trophy.

Fave hair icon? Charlize Theron. Amazing actress and true chameleon. Her hair changes depending on her role and she always rocks it. Charlize represents how hair is such a big part of our identities.
Your top tip for small business owners out there? Our world is constantly changing. Embrace it and be at the front of it. If you’re happy to evolve it’ll help you to stay in control and succeed.
That thing you love most about being in-salon? Being with my fab customers of course! I love creating beautiful hair and making you all feel special – sounds cheesy but it is so true!
Half an hour of me-time is? Sitting in the hot tub with a nice, large gin and tonic and just chilling!

Once we started the dialogue in salon about symptoms and getting checked out it was staggering to hear how many of our customers have been affected by women-only cancers. My ex-business partner was diagnosed a couple of years ago. Without her I wouldn’t even be a salon owner so after she went through her treatment, I pledged to do my part – hence the sponsored silence and Tough Mudder challenge.
And *ahem* at time of print we’ve raised £3,455 of Saks’ £180,000 contribution to Eve.
