Our SAKS 40 birthday bash

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a year-long celebration of 40 years of Saks, we treated our people to a glitzy party with a purpose at the ME London hotel on the Strand recently.

On a rainy Monday morning in October over 100 Saks owners and managers, HQ people and our leading hair and beauty suppliers converged from around the UK. Why? To hear exciting news about plans for 2015 of course. But as we’re currently pulling out all stops celebrating a 40 year heritage in hair and beauty, the word on everyone’s lips was “where can we go from here?”

Announcing all our exciting plans for 2015

In a two hour presentation key members of our dynamic HQ team did not disappoint. Innovative new business and marketing plans were revealed to take us into our 40s, including the latest hair collection, a brand-new beauty concept, a national charity partnership… and more.

Our Beauty Expert, Kirsty Jewson, is super-passionate about Saks Beauty.

Our MD, Stephen Kee, says: “Feedback from this event has exceeded all expectations. Everyone is up for what’s coming next and, equally important, it was also a social success. Our ‘old school’ franchisees – they’ve been with us since the 70s – were out in full force, and it was great to see them engage with the ‘new bloods’ who have opened salons in the past year as part of our ongoing expansion plans.”

Dennis Cheesebrough, Chairman at Saks, continues: “It’s overwhelming to see how passionate our people are about the Saks brand. For 2014 we’ve set our sights on getting bigger and better by opening more salons around the UK and overseas. We’re currently talking to Australia and several European countries. Overseas expansion works on lots of levels as it provides great career opportunities for our UK stylists and therapists too.”

Cake for 40 years of Saks celebration

Our Saksy cake!

The hotel’s fire alarm sounded (luckily after our gorgeous Saks 40 cake was served) and stepping outside for banter in the rain with hotel staff and firemen did not dampen the spirits! Luckily it was a false alarm and did not hinder our celebrations.

Everyone left feeling special, glad to be part of the ‘Saks family’ and geared up for the future. The goody bags, packed with gorgeous gifts from generous suppliers, were a huge success too!

A fitting celebration for our great British brand that keeps on doing the business. xx
