Know. Your. Vulva.

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Another public cervix announcement on behalf of our charity partner, The Eve Appeal. Make the Vulva Vow. It’s simple. All you need to know is the difference between a vulva and vagina. And you need to use the word vulva openly and without shame, because vulva – like vagina – is NOT a dirty word…

The Vulva is the external female genitalia that surround the opening to the vagina.

RED SEPTEMBER

In September Eve puts a big call out asking women to Go Red for the right reasons as too many women go red with embarrassment because they don’t want to talk about gynae health. Wear red. Chat openly. Raise awareness. Raise funds for ground-breaking medical research.

As usual, Saks salons said HELLA YES to that. Our latest fundraising activities puts our Saks4Eve contribution at £158,817.18. By the time you read this there will be lots more banked already!

A BIT OF A DO WITH SAKS SEDBURY HALL

OK so about Saks Sedbury Hall who’ve completed 8 half marathons, climbed 3 peaks and hosted countless Make Time For Tea parties for Eve! Most recently they raised *an unbelievable* £7,625.87 at their Headlam Hall Afternoon Tea party… bringing their total fundraising to £19,276.03. No. Words. Needed. Here.

Beauty Manager Sue organised and hosted the event along with the support of the whole team. Sue says: “I’m humbled by the generosity and support of customers, friends and families who came to support the event – we’ve exceeded our expectations. Thank you all who came and supported us.”

Salon owner Anna says: “What an amazing Saks4Eve journey and it’s not over yet – the commitment from all of the team has been truly inspirational and I am extremely proud of all of their hard work!”

Big shout from Anna, Sue AND US to team members Charlotte, Katie, Laura, Emma J, Emma K, Skye, Toni, Ellie and Millie who all gladly gave up their Sunday to work the event and helped beg and collect over 100 raffle prizes for the day, along with 12 silent auction prizes!

TREK EMMA, TREK

Emma at Saks Hair Northallerton says: “I’d say I’m relatively adventurous, I’m always up for a challenge and love the outdoors. So after one of my customers mentioned that there was a walk around an entire island where there is sun, and sand, and sangria… I thought what a great opportunity to combine an activity holiday with raising awareness for Eve.

“It seemed like shortly after the customer was out of my chair, I was fundraising like mad, packed and ready to go!

“I love the sun and I love walking… so honestly how hard can 186km be? Turns out pretty hard. Up before sunrise, temperatures in late thirties, covered in blisters and mosquito bites… all whilst walking past people chilling and tanning their white bits on pristine beaches. But I did it. I’m so proud of the awareness and the money I have raised.”

£2,065 raised – fundraising brilliance, Emma!

RUN SAKS, RUN

Well, run, walk, skip, hop or dance – we don’t care. We love running events and four salons flew the flag in September. Nicola and Kathryn of Saks Beauty Gosforth and Mel and Linzy from Saks Bishop Auckland did the biz in the Great North Run.

Nicola says: “We put our hearts into months of training and dedication . We could not do it without our continuous support from our wonderful customers who support us every gruelling step of the way!”

£1,319 and £220 transferred from the Toon!

And sister-salons Saks Heston and Saks Hampton love a big team event, having completed the Royal Parks 10k previously and they also like getting dressed up in salon at any opportunity! This time they went neon to complete the Glow In The Park 5k to block rocking beats!

POOH AND EEYORR GO TO CANADA!

Too cute right here. Saks Middlesbrough got to thinking that Pooh and Eeyorr deserved a holiday so they got customers donating destinations, putting a brilliant £100 into the pot and ended up sending our faves to Canada – love this story!

SAKS ROYSTON PAMPER NIGHT

Blowdries, cakes and bubbly? Rude not to! The gang at Saks Royston raised £582.42 with me-time treats and a very glitzy raffle for Eve!

SAKS HQ GALS GO RED

As you know, our Saks HQ team loves to join in with Eve’s activities so the gang jumped at the chance to Go Red. Sophie from Marketing is rocking it as our Saks4Eve contact and she immersed herself in making the event strike a chord. We all talked *very* openly about our gynae experiences, smear tests, the vulva, the vagina, the whole shebang. £140 raised in the process too!
