Hello Graduate Fashion Week!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

SO GOOD  to be styling backstage again! We love the Graduate Fashion Week gig and it was especially brilliant to be called on by official hair sponsor L’Oréal Professionnel in the 30th year of the world’s largest showcase of BA fashion talent and designers of tomorrow. 12-18 June 2021 saw a takeover of Coal’s Drop Yard at Kings Cross with FIVE creative Saks stylists onside.

Doing it differently this time and the team created looks for 12 runway shows which were live streamed on the GFW website. The shows took place in an outdoor covered space, with a small invited audience of 30 leading fashion industry press and judges.

GOOD TO BE BACK(STAGE)

We’re thrilled that we’re able to give our stylists opportunities to head out to the bright lights session styling at all the big shoots and shows, if that’s their thing. So. Good. To. Be. Backstage.

Jess Hesp of Saks Barnard Castle says “We had great concepts to work with, starting out very natural, gradually building up the looks. A mix of low ponytails, natural loose hair, tendrils, some strong partings, fishtail braids and sleek and super-groomed.”

Danielle Leyland of Saks Chester says “Loved every minute – I learnt some great styling tips and met amazing people from our industry who I will 100% be keeping in touch with. Such a buzz working at pace with the models all day. Love session styling for Saks – and can’t wait for further creative opportunities like this!”

THE SHOWS

Our stylists got to help showcase runway looks from emerging fashion designers at Edinburgh, Kingston, Manchester MU, Northampton, Nottingham Trent, University of East London, Salford, Sheffield Hallam, along with the Collective and International shows.

Megan Radcliffe of Saks Doncaster says “I feel very luck to get this gig, working with extremely talented people. My fave part was being backstage seeing how everyone works so hard to make the overall looks come together – the amazing outfits, makeup and hair.  A great atmosphere – sign me up again Saks!”
