Five Minutes with Alice
As well as creating gorgeous hair for our Guisborough salon clients, Alice is also a Saks Artist – takes deep breath – working as a principal educator, a member of our colour team and also representing Saks at shoots and shows!
Here, Alice gives the lowdown on what she loves about *all aspects* of her Saks roles and shares what makes her tick.
So, Alice, what’s the most rewarding part of educating? Seeing a learner’s confidence grow and understand something they’ve struggled with.
Backstage can be high-pressure – what’s your trick when the energy is intense? I love it. The buzz drives my energy up, and working back-to-back in the salon prepares you. Stay hydrated and keep calm. On the outside.
How do you balance representing Saks Artists with salon life? I’m lucky to have an amazing boss – SARAH – who encourages us to take up the opportunities we get as part of Saks. She’s let me balance being a Saks Artist and a salon stylist.
One colour trend clients are asking for, and how are you teaching it? Grey blending. We spent a year developing our workshop and successfully launched it earlier this year. A huge movement, and we’re focusing on how to approach with empathy for our clients, as it can be an emotional journey, and we can deliver beautiful results!
One thing that you love in salon… Making people feel their best. I love building relationships with my clients, making them feel comfortable and seeing them smile. The same goes for education. I want our emerging stylists to have confidence in their skills and love the career they’ve chosen as much as I do!
Anything about working closely with our creative leadership, Luke Pluckrose and Clare Murphy that’s seen you right? One of the best perks of being part of Saks! Seeing their creativity and precision first-hand is unreal. What they can create and how they stay calm under pressure. Something to strive towards.
A fave thing to do outside the salon? Running or going to the gym. I have two half marathons this year and probably a very long walk for our Saks4Eve charity partnership.

Dream travel destination if you could go tomorrow? South America. Would love to go on a big adventure at some point, but that one’s a long way off!
A fun fact about you? Two. I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu three years ago because I wanted to try something new. It’s pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Another is Saks-related… my dedication to education – I’ll be teaching Simply Saks the week leading up to my wedding 😂
Go-to playlist to add the vibe at work? 90s. Love Alanis Morissette, Blur, The Beautiful South… Sarah’s the same, but the under-25s usually turn it over.
A thing that always makes your day just better? Getting home to my dog Chuck and having a snuggle on the sofa. Perfect end to a busy day.
If you could swap lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why? I don’t think I would. I love my job, work with amazing people, have wonderful friends, I’m marrying the love of my life, and we have the best dog. I haven’t got everyone’s dream life, but I’m very grateful for everything I have.
A big Saks salute, Alice! Love Saks xx
