Emma raises £2,065 for Eve

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Emma Webb from our Northallerton hair salon team does not do things by halves and is always crazy-busy with life in general. When she got to thinking she wanted to do something as part of our Northallerton fundraising salon fundraising for The Eve Appeal she decided to go big by organising to trek round the entire coastline of Menorca.

We caught up with Emma to get the lowdown on her Saks4Eve adventure.

SO, HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA?

Emma says: “I’d say I’m relatively adventurous, I’m always up for a challenge and certainly enjoy the outdoors. So after one of my clients mentioned that there was a walk around an entire island where there is sun, and sand, and sangria… I thought what a great opportunity to combine an activity holiday with raising awareness for The Eve Appeal. It seemed like shortly after the client was out of my chair, I was fundraising like mad, packed and ready to go!

EASIER OR HARDER THAN ANTICIPATED?

Like I said, I love the sun and I love walking… so I honestly thought how hard can 186km be? Turns out pretty hard. Up before sunrise every day, temperatures reaching late thirties, covered in blisters and mosquito bites… all whilst walking past people chilling and tanning their white bits on the most pristine beaches. But I completed it, and I’m so proud of the awareness and the money I have raised for such a worthy cause.

WHAT MADE YOU DO IT?

I decided to raise money for the eve appeal as I see hundreds of women every month, many of whom had no clue about gynaecological cancers – let alone knowing there are five – of the cervix, ovaries, vagina, vulva and womb.

Gynaecological cancer can be is as equally devastating as many other cancers which are more commonly spoken about, but quite simply… the awareness just is not there – there’s a bit of a taboo to talk about them. But not at Saks!

BIG THANKS FROM US!

Brilliant work Emma, huge thanks for flying the #Saks4Eve flag for our salon. And *as always* huge thanks to our brilliant customers for supporting this and all of our other Saks4Eve adventures.
