Colour Kudos for Blossom
Beaming out colour kudos for Blossom in our Redcar salon team. A brilliant colourist who made it through to the Grand Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy as it celebrated 70 years. And rocked going from apprentice to principal stylist in 18 months too.
Salon owner Johnathan – who’s also on the Saks Colour Team – is an amazing educator and mentor for colour. The salon’s built a great rep in Teesside with clients coming in from around the country for creative colour appointments.

Tell us about the look you created. A smooth, blunt bob with and orange shine to accentuate the gloss that can be achieved with L’Oréal. My model Gemma was fab to work with and she’s now a friend after responding to our social shout for my model.
Inspo? Vidal Sassoon’s timeless look and the desire for vivid colour. I wanted to how L’Oréal covers all aspect of colour – semi, demi and permanent. and I used Majarel to pack a punch.
Tell us about your techniques. Surface painting for a seamless blend on every section and continuous shine, regardless of lighting and movement.
And how you felt when you found out you’d made it through? I was proud of myself and shocked that my hard work has been recognised. It was like a fever dream and I’m still over the moon.
Whose hair would you love to style and why? Late 90s Victoria Beckham is absolutely iconic and VB any era is a big reference for hairdressers, I’d say.
Three words your Saks fam would use to describe you? Funny. Caring. CHAOTIC.

If you weren’t a hairdresser what would you be? A bricklayer or a joiner – just get me on a building site. There’s no way I’d turn off my creativity, whatever I did.
When you’re not in salon you love… Going to coffee shops and walking on the beach with Geoff, my Italian Greyhound.

You have a free Saturday, what do you do? HAH. That would be getting roped into doing my family’s hair – no rest for the wicked, or the hairdressers.
A work goal you’ve got for the next 12 months… To build my portfolio and clients, embrace new skills and try again for the Colour Trophy. I’d love to get involved in the creative and fashion side of hairdressing – a lifelong dream. And I can achieve it with Saks.
