Calming sensitive skin

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our skin experts know that sensitive skin with redness and flaky patches not only cause the ouch factor, but can be embarrassing too… and that’s why our hearts go out to the lovelies troubled by redness and flaky-patches.

Our resident Beauty Expert, Kirsty Jewson, says: “We frequently talk to women suffering from sensitive skin – a condition that is worsened by chemicals found in some make-up and skincare products, plus stress and environmental damage.

THREE TOP TIPS FOR CALMING SENSITIVE SKIN

You are what you drink
We all know that too much alcohol dehydrates the skin, but if you’re prone to redness it also inflames it and causes a process called vasodialation which leads to broken capilliaries – not a great look. So, make sure you drink water during your night out as well as the next day, of course!

Use mineral makeup to camouflage and reduce symptoms
Camouflage with makeup but make sure there are no synthetic dies/chemicals present in the ingredients. Saks loves Youngblood – 100% crushed minerals – and a great tip is to mix mineral powder with liquid mineral packed with skin-friendly ingredients to help alleviate symptoms as well as giving great coverage, naturally.

Think green, green, green!
Reduce intake of acid-forming foods: bread, cheese, coffee and increase alkaline based foods: curly kale, broccoli, spinach omegas. Every. Day.
