About your glossy autumn glow
All the love for autumn… especially this one. Things are getting cooler. Time to be more daring, defined, glossy, GLOWY. Here’s a four minute read from our experts on hair, beauty and antioxidant boosters too.
THE DEFINITION OF CURLS
Saks Artist, Sarah Clarke-Lees says: “LOVE this time of year for adding in moisture and bringing out definition. For curly and coily hair particularly we recommend that you introduce a weekly treatment. And for hat-lovers, a leave-in conditioner is just the thing. Kérastase Curl Manifesto Crème De Jour Fondamentale helps stop the wool and cotton fibres drying the hair and helps remedy ‘friction frizz’. We can’t get enough of this frizz-reducing range – shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and a day two refresh spray (also in handy handbag sizes).”
COCKTAILS FOR CURLS AND WAVES
Fusio Dose – also from Kérastase – is a range of in-salon treatments with bespoke ingredients to help protect and repair hair – we see amazing results. The effects last up-to six washes and the perfect add on to your hair appointment to help keep colour vibrant and hair healthy. Your Saks stylist will advise on the best treatments and products to care for your curls. We think of Fusio Dose as a cocktail for your hair – pass us that menu!
French glossing? Mais oui! Sarah says: “If you’ve not tried our super-natural glossing service yet, this uber cool two-step colour enhancement technique refreshes tones and adds intense shine to your colour. Whether you want to intensify your current colour or fancy exploring a new hue. Applied to the root area first with a tailored colour then taken through to the ends for maximum gloss. Takes a little longer but ‘that shine though’. We’ll chat it through when you’re in.”
CHECK-IN WITH YOUR SKIN
Kirsty Jewson – owner of Saks Beauty Northallerton – says: “Our skin can become more dehydrated as the heating goes on. Now’s the time for facial peels with lactic and retinol acids that’ll work wonders restoring the skin after exposure to the UV rays of summer.
“We also recommend intense pulse light treatments at this time for skin rejuvenation, from pigmentation and capillary damage to thread veins. We have an array of facials, peels and electro treatments at Saks Beauty salons. Get in touch with your salon to see what’s on the menu and book in for a complimentary consultation.”
SMOOTHIES FOR SKIN
This one’s a real treat with probiotics for gut health, anti-inflammatory essential fatty acids, supercharging antioxidants and cacao to curb sugar cravings…
A ripe banana
Half an avocado
Half a cup of Kefir
Half a cup of Kale
Two tablespoons of cacao powder
One cup of water and a handful of ice
Blitz and blend and thank us later.
BOOST YOUR IMMUNE AND GO GREEN!
Kirsty says: “Consuming two litres a day in colder months can be more of a struggle and you may find yourself opting for comforting coffees, so think green tea instead. Bursting with antioxidants that protect our skin cells from damage and our bodies from internal inflammation too. If you’re not into brewing or it doesn’t suit your tastebuds choose a quality teabag instead. It’s still caffeine intake though and may impact on your sleep – I’d say have no more than three, earlier on in the day.”
We’ve said this since the beginnings of Saks Beauty – when 90s brows were a smidgen of what they are today – a good brow brings out the eyes. Try not to pluck between treatments but if you’re tempted – and we all are – work to your brow touchpoints to keep your shape between professional treatments….
Inner brow – in line with the tip of your nose
Brow arch – align with your pupil when you’re looking straight ahead
Outer brow – line up with the outer corner of your eye
Kirsty comments: “Also, if you’re not into full brow treatments, a ‘brow-tidy’ or shape and tint are great – tinting really picks up lighter hairs and creates more fullness. It may take a few months to achieve a gorgeous brow but you’ll be glad you went with it!”
May your autumn be glamorous and good. Love Saks xx
