ABOUT AMY’S FUTURE TALENT WIN
A BIG shout for apprentice Amy at our Saks Hexham salon, named one of the winners of the Future Talent Award at the 70th L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final, at The O2, July 2026.
Amanda Holden did the hosting with the mosting at the event that celebrates the best in hairdressing from across the UK. And being named a Future Talent winner is Quite The Thing.
Our Hexham salon owner Shannon says: “Amy’s been with us for a couple of years and has made amazing progress – we’re super proud! She put her heart and soul into the cut and colour on shoot day. It took six or seven hours. Great to have Amy represent our salon, the Saks brand and Kleek Apprenticeships.”

We caught up with Amy for a quickfire Q&A…
So Amy, talk us through your award-winning look… I wanted to create a unique, individual look with reds and purples, highlighting and a zig-zag pattern to separate the blocks of colour.
What was your inspo? My love of vivid colours. And of being different.
How did it feel when you found out you were a winner? I was so excited. Amazing that my work had been recognised. I felt extremely proud of myself.
Living the dream
Whose hair would you love to style and why? Sabrina Carpenter because of her signature bouncy blowdry!
Three words your Saks fam would use to describe you? I asked, and they said: ambitious, creative and witty. I’ll take that.
Describe the vibe at Saks Hexham… High energy and fast-paced. We’re a very busy salon. Also, we have very friendly and kind clients. So good!
And an ideal holiday is… Somewhere like Tenerife! Partying, jet skiing and sunbathing. Action-packed because life is for having fun.

Any advice for other hair apprentices just setting out? Never give up and practice makes perfect.
Any goals for the next 12 months? Yes – to work full time on the salon floor and keep improving my skills. Eventually I want my own salon!
