A Deep Dive into Why Water Works
Health hacks from the Saks Beauts… this time it’s a deep dive into why water works from Debbie, our Saks Guisborough Beauty salon owner and all-round fitness aficionado!
HYDRATION INFLUENCERS
Numerous factors influence our hydration levels. Insufficient water intake, physical activity, caffeine, alcohol consumption and stress. External factors like harsh weather conditions and central heating.
MEANING
Inadequate water intake can make the skin look duller, emphasising the appearance of fine lines and leaving the skin feeling tight and dry. Leaving you generally feeling ‘bleurgh’.
GOOD TO KNOW!
If you’ve increased your activity levels to kickstart 2025, during moderate to intense exercise, you lose sweat and essential electrolytes. So following each workout, drop a few mls of your favourite electrolytes into your water. I love this as it increases my hydration levels, maintains good muscle condition and helps speed recovery without carbs, sugars, or artificial ingredients.
EVERY SAKS THERAPIST SAYS…
That drinking adequate water is the unsung hero in skincare. From plumping the epidermis to fighting premature signs of ageing. Along with a nourishing diet and products with hydrating boosting ingredients such as hyaluronic acid can make all the difference to maintain skin health and vitality. At every level.
INTAKE
With all of this in mind, our water intake varies from person to person, but we always recommend a minimum of 8 glasses per day.
