A big Saks4Eve HIGH FIVE!

Reading Time: 4 minutes

As we enter the fifth year of our charity partnership with The Eve Appeal a heartfelt thanks going out to all of our Saks4Eve fundraising salons and customers. Everysingleone who’s raised everysinglepenny.

There was no five-year plan when we hooked up with Eve. We wanted to make a real difference to women’s wellbeing and Eve does just that with essential life-saving research into all five gynaecological cancers of the womb, ovaries, cervix, vagina and vulva.

We asked if you fancied getting involved in raising funds and awareness for two years. SO many worthwhile causes out there that touch us all. But in true Saks-style you lot said hella yes and more to Saks4Eve. Fast forward and we’ve now contributed £170,000 and have our eyes on £250,000 to aid Eve’s research.

NOT JUST DOING YOUR BIT. DOING A LOT.

We love how you put the fun in fundraising. Scratch that. We love how you put the imaginative and hilarious in there too.

You get lippy and bake cakes. You style hair, cut fringes, blowdry, plait and knot. You buff nails, massage necks, nurture faces, spray-tan, walk, wax and zipwire. You climb, trek, plough through mud and fling yourselves out of aeroplanes and off Very High Things. From frock swaps to mad hatters’ tea parties, knicker-flashing (lots of that) to Easter competitions to the glitziest hair and beauty raffles and donating hard-earned tips. You do all that… and more.

SOME OF YOUR BEST BITS

Don’t do highlights, said no Saks stylist ever. We couldn’t resist a timeline of some of your crazy antics and big achievements. Too many to mention but a good flavour of what makes Saks4Eve special is here.

No names needed. You know who you are…

FIRST MAKE TIME FOR TEA IN 2015

We were delighted to attend Eve’s annual Make Time for Tea launch hosted by Sharon Hodgson MP and Chair of the APPG on Ovarian Cancer at the House of Commons. And you’ve been holding bake sales every March (and any other month that you fancy) since in the name of our cause.

THE BIG ZIP IN 2016

39 Saks people from 15 salons and Saks HQ converged in Wales to take on Zip World Velocity Challenge – Europe’s longest and fastest zipwire. Saks’ managing director was busy err washing his car that day? No way – Stephen Kee was proud to take the leap and represent too.

SAKS4EVE SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2017

September 2017 was special. 6th September 2017 was special. That’s when loads of you opened up on a Sunday and offered hair and beauty appointments for donations.  You gave up your precious me-time for free. The sisterhood vibe was through the roof.

FIRST GET LIPPY IN 2018

You pouted and shouted and rocked the social media takeover in 2018 and it’s written every year now too. You went all-out getting the messages out there.

ABOUT OUR MESSAGING

If you have a cervix listen up. Get your smear when it’s due and get checked out  if something seems wrong. Symptoms? Could be back pain or discomfort during sex, between periods or post-menopause. Irregular bowel movements or a bloated tum. Unusual discharge? Do not ignore your body. If something changes make the call, attend your appointment and explain what it is.

If you don’t think twice about Hollywood waxing but wouldn’t know where to start when telling your GP that something’s wrong “down there”. Your gynae health is important.

GET LIPPY so our mums, daughters, sisters, nans, aunts and mates don’t die of embarrassment. POUT and SHOUT and SHARE and TAG for #TEAMEVE.

KNOW YOUR VUVLA

We’re proud to be able to tell our girls to do just that. And oh the public cervix announcements. Ok, maybe pubic cervix announcements, right?

IN THE BEST COMPANY

We’re proud to be working alongside a brilliant array of Team Eve supporters including:

Caroline Hirons, Cherry Healy, Christopher Biggins, Denise Welsh, Helen Lederer, Lesley Joseph, Karen Hobbs, Lesley Joseph, Maureen Lipman, Maxine Peake, Michelle Heaton, Patti, Clare, Richard Arnold and more.
