Maddie’s Saks4Eve Skydive
It all started on a foggy day in March, when our very own graduate stylist, Maddie, took to the sky to raise funds for Saks Hair Guisborough’s charity of choice, The Eve Appeal by completing a skydive. The nerves were real, and the excitement was through the roof on the day. But. She. Did. It.
Although taking the plunge was nerve-racking, the skydive was about so much more than the thrill, it was about raising vital funds for gynaecological cancer research and spreading awareness far and wide.
So… was it worth it? 100% it was, having raised a massive £1,877!
Maddie and the salon team at Saks Hair & Beauty in Guisborough would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has donated for our latest Saks4Eve challenge. You’re all absolutely Incredible and Maddie couldn’t have done it without your support.

Getting ready for the big jump
TAKING A LEAP OF FAITH
Our Guisborough hair salon owner, Sarah, and all our stylists are SO proud to raise funds and awareness for our national charity of choice to help with their endless efforts in the fight against women’s cancers.
Everyone got behind the event by telling our customers all about it … they were super impressed and so many kindly donated.
Athena from The Eve Appeal says: “Over the past 22 years, with the support of our community, we’ve been working hard to save lives from gynaecological cancers. We are so proud of everything we have managed to achieve and none of it would have been possible without your support”.
MADDIE TELLS ALL
We caught up with the star of the show to find out how the skydive went. Over to you Maddie…
What inspired you to get involved with raising funds for The Eve Appeal?
“To be honest,” says Maddie, “I really wanted to do something for The Eve Appeal, as I’ve witnessed my mum (salon owner, Sarah) and Alice (our hair salon director) do the Saks4Eve walk and its pretty gruelling, but I could see their dedication for such an amazing cause”.
So why a skydive of all things?
“I decided on the skydive whilst we were in a team meeting … the girls were quite shocked, and I knew they were all wondering if I had the nerve to actually go through with it. Fast forward a few weeks – it was all booked and I was raring to get there.”
How did you feel in the run up to the big day?
“Straight away our amazing customers, friends and family started to donate. I was overwhelmed. This got me even more excited to push for more donations and make the dive really special! I was slightly nervous but more excited than anything else.

Away she goes!
AND ON THE DAY ITSELF?
Maddie: “The skydive took place at Sky-High Skydiving in Peterlee, where I was joined by my mum, Sarah, my sister, Maisie (our principal stylist), and other family members for some much-needed support, encouragement and celebrations”.
“It was an early start… 8am, and it was extremely foggy so we had to wait until cleared to go up. I could tell my family were anxious for me but I was really looking forward to it. The jump happened at 12pm, and WOW! It was the most amazing experience. Free falling for around 60 seconds. You can’t breathe, but it’s really exhilarating, and I definitely experienced a sigh of relief when the parachute opened”.
“Adrenaline and sensory overload, to say the least. Once I landed I felt overwhelmed with joy, relief and a desire to do it all again (and I most definitely will). My Instructor told me that I had it in me to train to be an instructor (not sure about that one), but I’m very proud to have raised so much money for The Eve Appeal, and I’m incredibly grateful to those who dug deep and helped me raise awareness and funding”.
Salon owner, Sarah says “I’m super proud of Maddie. As her Mum I was passed myself, but I understood why she felt it was important. She amazed me to be honest. Well done Maddie!”

Looking relieved to be back on solid ground
