New year, new Saks salons alert and we couldn’t be happier to welcome our Saks Addlestone salon. We’ve opened our doors and are doing the biz at 92b Station Road in town.
FAMILY MATTERS
Andrew, John and Jane Gunner are our new salon owners. Andrew’s at the helm taking over the ropes (scissors?) from dad John who originally founded Christies – a longstanding, reputable local salon. Mum Jane’s running front of house too. Just like Saks, Christies had a rich heritage and the team is excited to take their loyal and new customers on the next stage of their adventure.
FIVE MINUTES WITH ANDREW
We fired off a few Qs to Andrew to find out what he loves about hairdressing and thinks of his Saks journey so far..
Why did you choose Saks for your salon, Andrew?
We wanted to be part of something bigger. As an independent salon we had a lot to juggle with every day; looking after our customers, the team and everything that is involved with running a busy salon. We were attracted to Saks, for your reputation and also because you provide not only business, finance and marketing support, but you also actually do such a lot for your franchisees. From helping manage and posting on salon social media pages to setting up and updating salon websites – such a bonus! As well as motivating our staff with continuous education and don’t get me started on the creative opportunities with Saks Art Team. As far as we could see no-one else came close to Saks on this. We actually spotted a Facebook message calling for salon owners who might want to convert their salons to Saks!
Name your favourite hair appointment?
Hmm, anything colour-related. I can quite happily do tints, highlights and balayage all day. I love experimenting with formulas to create customised results and also enjoy the process of a colour correction.
Best bit about being Saks already?
The support from Saks HQ. Everyone’s made the transition process pretty seamless. If you have a question or an issue, the team are right on it. I’d also say meeting the other salon owners at the annual franchisee conference last year – a great bunch and everyone was so welcoming! It’s true what they say – you certainly feel like you are part of a big family.
Grab a quick half an hour of me-time – what do you do?
Hmm, OK – usually in a pub after a good day in the salon. Where I’m currently typing my responses actually!

Debbie Harry’s late 70s peroxide bob. The Rachel. Meghan Markle. I could go on.

Team-Saks Addlestone has had loads of training before opening their doors including a week-long in-salon hair session with our creative director Luke Pluckrose and Sarah Clarke-Lees of Saks Art Team. Sarah says: “It was just fab meeting our Saks Addlestone team – all so excited to join us. I talked all-things consultation and – of course – colour. Action-packed indeed. Our newest additions to the #SaksFam are ready to diagnose and surpass your colour needs for sure.”
Andrew continues: “Yes, we loved getting all the Saks hair knowledge. We’ve also immersed ourselves in our new brand with team presentations and we all passed the brand induction with flying colours. We’re in!”
