Hanging around in Saks Leeds
If you’re a big fan of The Hangover movies you’ll recognise beautiful American actress Sasha Barrese who plays the part of long suffering Tracey in the box-office smashes.
Sasha recently popped into the Saks Hair & Beauty Salon at Briggate in Leeds twice in one week to get her luscious locks blow dried sleek courtesy of Saks super-stylist, Charlotte Smith.
And before you ask, no, unfortunately The Hangover co-star and winner of Sexiest Man Alive 2011 Bradley Cooper was not in town!

Saks York Raise Valuable Funds for MS

3 countries, 3 peaks, 3,000 meters. 1,000 car miles & 24 walking miles in just 24 hours. Raising over £1,000 for the multiple sclerosis trust...!
The courageous team comprised of Nicky Proctor, Steve Proctor, Paul Colladine, Debbie Pritchard, Jezz Ellis and Ashley Cameron. Ashley and the team are committed to a long term partnership with the charity, and this second event certainly required serious commitment! The first was their support for the national MS campaign ‘Be Bold in Blue’, an awareness exercise and the team then held raffles and served delicious cakes to raise funds for the Trust and also helped local MS sufferers directly by offering free VIP sessions.
Well done Saks York for completing the 3 Peak Challenge!
Race for Life 2011

Thirteen ladies from Saks HQ recently raised over £1000 for Cancer Research UK by taking on the recent Darlington Race for Life.
The Saks Team completed the 3 mile fundraising run in the town's South Park, organised by the UK's leading charity, which is dedicated to beating cancer through research.
The girls strutted their stuff in the Zumba warm-up which had everyone in fits of giggles at the general lack of co-ordination. With some running first-timers and regular half marathon runners in the team, two sub teams of runners and walkers were formed for the main event.
Jemma Ferguson, Customer Services Manager, who organised the Saks team, says: "Not only did we raise a stack of cash for a worthy cause, close to many of our hearts, but it was also great to spend some time together outside of work".
Extra-specially Saks
This year has seen a whole new direction for the Saks brand. We're more female-focused, more creative, more inspiring and all together more glamorous. Why? Because we invested in a whole heap of research - and this is what our customers AND the very special people who work in our salons told us they wanted!
We got the ball rolling with our super-sexy I AM WOMAN campaign, which featured in the pages of Glamour and Marie Claire. We've spread the message to our franchisees, with a big launch event and thanks to them, we're now busy embedding our brand values at the heart of our business. . .out in the salon network. It's there that the sense of a closely knit Saks community really springs to life. And it's also there, in our salons, day in, day out that our people deliver the kind of service that makes our customers feel special.
Click on the I LOVE SAKS button above and tell us how and why you think SAKS is special. We'd LOVE to hear from you.
Saksessories Strike Again in the Big Brother House
Celebrity Big Brother contestants cannot live without their Saksessories tools. Spotted on the screen of the hit reality TV show, Saksessories Straighteners were used by Hollywood’s Tara Reid to smooth and soften her tresses and we bet Jedward loves them too to get that quiff straight and in position in the morning. The ceramic straighteners feature an adjustable temperature control to enable you to personalise them to the needs of your hair type and style making them perfect for all those celebrity’s in the Big Brother House and yours!

Saks Royston Raises Stacks of Cash for Local Nursing Home
Saks Royston raised £500 for St George’s Nursing Home in the town by holding a special charity day.
The salon did a special Sunday opening, offering Cut & Finishes at a fraction of the normal price, with all takings going to the charity.
They also raised funds through a raffle with prizes including Cut & Finishes at the salon, two meals for two at local pubs, lunch for two with wine at Dish, a beautiful glass perfume bottle from Wonderful Things, a travel size hair care kit, gifts from Mia Caro, a coffee and cake voucher from Mello, beauty products and wine.
The Saks team has forged close bonds with residents at the Nursing Home and now plan to organise a dinner and entertainment evening for them. They also want to organise a Christmas event at the Home.

The Sapphires Awards 2011

Saks enjoyed triple success at the recent Sapphires Awards which recognise and reward the best hair and beauty franchise companies and salons in the UK.
Our stunning new brand imagery helped us scoop the Best Corporate Image Award .
Claire Denyer from Saks Kings Hill won the most coveted prize for franchisees, Franchise Salon Owner of the Year, while Saks Saffron Walden picked up the Best Local Marketing Award.
Saks was in full force at the glittering event at the Dorchester Hotel in London last week, where the venues's Ballroom was transformed for the vintage-themed ceremony.
Hosted by Red or Dead founding designer, Wayne Hemmingway, alongside Deputy Editor of hairtrade magazine Salon Business, Lauren Margrave, The Sapphires represent the salon industry's franchise sector, acknowledging, rewarding and applauding the best in this fast growing area of business.
Stephen Kee, Managing Director of Saks says, "We're delighted to have won three out of the ten awards at The Sapphires and yet again have proven that we're at the top of our game in the salon franchising sector".
Sapphires Coming Soon
Celebrating the hard work of those in the salon franchising sector, The Sapphires, presented by Salon Business, is a truly unique awards event for the hair and beauty industry.
Now heading into its third year, the awards continue to reflect the fast-growing franchise sector and the inspirational success of those in this sector of the industry.
To date, Saks has lived up to its reputation as a leader in UK franchising and bagged loads of awards. Here's hoping this year is no different.
Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone!
New Salon in Royston
Just last week, a long standing franchisee in Hertford, Mannie DiGesaro, opened the doors on his second salon in Royston, in partnership with Hayley Ansell. Mannie's been with us for nearly twenty years and has had his first salon for 15 years, so its fair to say that his customers are in safe hands!
Mannie and Hayley are great advocates of the Saks' franchising model because it allows them to be business owners, in jobs they love, with the support of the Saks network and the Saks brand behind them. We'd like to wish Mannie and Hayley, their staff and their customers, at both salons all the best! Keep up the good work.
