Ooze Saks Appeal with Hair & Beauty Giant's 2010 Hair Collection
If you want a stunning new look for 2010 then you need look no further than Saks. The leading hair and beauty group has just launched the hair collection for 2010, and true to form, each of the looks is gorgeous, aspirational and above all, wearable.
Saks’ mission is to always exceed their clients’ expectations and to pioneer new trends. Yet again, they’ve achieved both these aims with this beautiful new collection. Couple this with the fact that any Saks salon is a welcome place to pop in to and quite simply, there’s nowhere better to go for a new hairdo. That they offer the absolute latest beauty treatments too, is an added bonus!
Each year the genius that is the Saks Art Team, a group of elite hairdressers within the 140-strong salon group, creates an annual collection so that clients can be sure the cuts and colours they wear are bang on trend.
Alison Dace from the Saks Art Team says: “Saks is fashion conscious without being fashion victim. That’s why hundreds of thousands of clients visit our salons every year. Our signature looks are adaptable, rather than being set, rigid styles. This year’s collection embraces everything that a woman wants in a hairstyle – the looks are beautiful, feminine and stylish, rather than overtly edgy, and they ooze Saks Appeal.”
The Saks Trends 2010 Collection is catwalk savvy but versatile, so whichever look you want, it can be tailored to suit your specific needs; your face shape, skin tone, hair type and lifestyle. All these factors are taken into consideration during an in depth consultation before any Saks stylist begins to transform each client’s hair. Saks is officially the UK’s Best Training Provider too, so you can rest assured that every single Saks hairdresser is totally up-to-date with the latest techniques and trends.
Mario Failla from the Saks Art Team says: “This collection is all about perfect grooming and creating the ultimate, polished look. Hair is worn loose but sophisticated, soft but structured. Our haircuts never compromise on good quality and are a great investment because they last.”
Look 1: Long hair is still as popular as ever. On this shape we’ve used a razor to create a soft outline with long layers to give a lived-in feel. Caramel hues are applied using a paint-on technique to give a sun-kissed, low-maintenance result.
Styling: If your hair is long it must have texture this year. Apply tecni.art Volume Plus Mousse to damp hair and then plait the hair randomly or all over to create the effect you want. Do this before bed and unravel them in the morning, but if you want a quick result, blow-dry the plaits.
Look 2: Big hair is back, and the bigger the better! Head hugging layers help to create this volume while carve cutting random areas helps to give support and longevity to the shape. A low side parting gives a sexy eye-skimming result. The colour is bold and beautiful. We used three different copper tones all over the hair to create definition and “I want it” colour.
Styling: Use tecni.art Volume Plus Mousse and a Saksessories Round Brush to add curl and movement while blow-drying. Then use Saks Micro Ionics randomly to add different textures and extra volume as required.
Look 3: Sophistication, high polish and a must-have centre parting are the key inspirations for this quality look. The one length shape is created using point cutting (a signature Saks technique) which help the hair to swing beautifully but fall immaculately back into place. The soft edge, peep through fringe adds femininity and frames any face shape beautifully. The mesmerising, light-catching colour shows multi-dimensional tones and flecks of mahogany, raspberry and plum.
Styling: Use tecni.art Liss Control to smooth the hair and use their Crystal Gloss Spray to add extra shine and polish.
Look 4: A central parting is key to this rock chic shape. A less is more attitude adds to the coolness – think Debbie Harry, Fearne Cotton. It shouts effortless cool and sex appeal. Face framing layers and a shattered outline complete the look. The colour incorporates creamy hues of marshmallow and champagne and metallics like bronze and gold. They’re applied in hidden panels for maximum effect with minimum commitment.
Styling: Use tecni.art Volume Architect to wrap dry the hair (literally brush the hair around the head as you blow-dry) and keep a centre parting. Use Saks Micro Ionics straightening irons to randomly bend and shape the lengths and ends into tousled-effect finish, using Playball Creamy Smooth from tecni.art.
Look 5: This iconic bob shape is created using a blunt cutting technique to achieve a square outline. It is accessorised with a stunning arched, eye-brow skimming fringe for maximum effect. The colour is a dark inky brown and has been chosen for ultimate shine and polish and to give a sultry silhouette.
Styling: Apply tecni.art Iron Finish and blow-dry using a Saksessories Round Brush. If necessary use Saks Micro Ionics straightening irons for a smooth, perfect finish. Crystal Gloss Spray from tecni.art can be used to add a final polish.
Look 6: The shortest shape in the collection is cut using a razor to achieve a soft feminine outline shape. The layers are heavy and face-framing, forming a versatile, graduated look. For the colour, cosy copper-blonde tones add softness to this shorter shape while apricot, caramel and toffee hues dance around the flirty fringe.
Styling: Use tecni.art Liss Control to wrap dry the hair around the head. Encourage root lift and smooth down tufty ends. Use Playball Pearl Whip from tecni.art to add a sparkle.
Look 7: This cut can be adapted to many different lengths to suit any face or head shape. The big trend for men is to have extra length through the front area and movement should be encouraged, not shied away from. You want it free-flowing and loose, but always masculine. A structured outline with texture is key. A cool brunette colour is used to add density and strength to the overall look.
Styling: Natural drying works best. tecni.art’s Playball Density Material is used to add the final definition and their Soda Sparkle can be added for polish.
