Award Winning Saks Education Rolled-Out to Non-Saks Salons
Due to overwhelming demand, Saks, the UK’s leading hair and beauty franchise group, has rolled-out its award winning apprentice training to non-Saks salons.
Saks Education is officially acknowledged as the UK’s Best Training Provider, having been awarded Beacon Status by the Quality Improvement Agency and all grade ones by the Adult Learning Inspectorate for providing outstanding training.
They have now made the exciting step of offering their expert services to salons outside the Saks group, for learners training to be hairdressers, beauty therapists and for customer services, up to NVQ Level 3.
Saks Education has a strict vetting procedure when selecting salons to work with - only the best applicants are accepted who are committed to their apprentice and their training.
Every Saks learner receives an education plan tailored to their specific needs, based on their commitment, ability and experience. This plan also takes into consideration the employer’s and salon’s needs.
One of the huge benefits to both the learner and the salon is that all the training takes place within the workplace, with no time out required for college attendance, and no fees. An open learning package gives the learner comprehensive practical and theoretical information, supported by the in-salon training, on-line learning via the Saks Education intranet and regular updates in the Saks Education newsletter.
A qualified assessor also visits the salon on a regular basis to supplement practical training, perform assessments and to offer support to the learner.
Very few salons offer apprentices in beauty therapy, therefore Saks is expecting there to be huge interest specifically in this side of their new offering.
Tina Rook, Head of Saks Education, says: “The benefits of being a learner, or a salon owner with a learner on their team, are endless. For the learner it’s a chance to get stuck into their training straight away, earn money from day one and gain experience in a real working environment. For the salon owner it means they have an eager team member, hungry to learn, and who when qualified, is fully versed in working salon practices. Salons also have a say in training and assessment.”
