James and Emmie Appleton
Brother-sister team James and Emmie Appleton have been Saks clients since they were children and have wanted to become part of the group for as long as they can remember.
James, 27, and Emmie, 25, are both highly experienced hairdressers who moved to Sheffield in their teens and have always planned to run their own salon. Between them they’ve worked on magazine shoots, catwalk shows, at hair product launches and for events at top stores including Selfridges.
As Saks clients when they lived in Northallerton, James and Emmie have been familiar with the brand for a long time. James says: "We love how accessible Saks is and the "no attitude" ethos the group has. We understand it can be intimidating visiting some salons so wanted to be part of a company that is renowned for being friendly, and that welcomes everyone."
Emmie adds: "We’ve made sure our salon has a local, friendly feel, which is what Sheffield is great at, yet we’ve got all the benefits of being part of the Saks franchise to keep us cutting edge and bang up to date with the latest trends and cutting and colour techniques."
One of the many reasons James and Emmie chose Saks is because of the sharing of ideas between salons and the great operational support offered by head office. Emmie continues: "Not only does all of this benefit us as salon owners, and our team, but it’s also great for our clients as we’ll constantly strive to improve the level of hairdressing we offer."
Each new Saks team member undergoes intensive training at the Saks Academies, whatever their experience, ensuring that every client receives the same, first class service, whichever Saks salon they visit. James adds: "Our hairdressers will receive regular training from the Saks Academies to keep them up to date with the latest trends and techniques."
